How do I take over a conversation from the AI?

Taking over is deliberate in Sendify. You switch the AI off for that lead rather than relying on the system to guess that a human has stepped in.

Why sending a message does not pause the AI

The AI usually messages as the representative, so both AI and human messages appear under the same identity. Sendify cannot reliably tell which of those was typed by a person, so it does not guess.

The practical effect

If a rep jumps into a thread and nobody disables the AI, the AI keeps working the conversation too. Two voices at once is confusing for the lead, so make disabling part of your team's habit.

Turning the AI off yourself

  1. 1

    Open the conversation

Find the lead in Sendify or in your CRM inbox.

  2. 2

Disable the AI for that lead

Use the agent status control on the conversation.

  3. 3

    Take the conversation over

Reply as yourself. The AI stays quiet until you re-enable it.

Letting automations do it

Most teams do not want to remember this manually. Configure an automation to disable the AI at the point where a human should own the conversation: after a booking, after a lead asks for a call, or after disqualification.

Automations can also keep the AI active while disabling follow ups, or hand the conversation to a different AI. Those options are covered in the automations guide.

FAQ

If my rep replies manually, does the AI stop?

No. The AI often sends as the representative, so a message under that rep identity cannot reliably be identified as human or AI. Disable the AI on that lead if you want to take the thread over.

How do I hand a conversation back to the AI?

Re-enable the AI on that lead and it picks the conversation back up.

Can the AI keep replying but stop chasing?

Yes. Disable follow ups and leave the AI active. It answers when the lead writes but stops nudging unanswered messages.

Can a booking automatically pull the AI out?

Yes, that is one of the most common automations: on booking, generate a summary, update the CRM, and disable the AI.
